I love Dean's 79 series. They're great for the money. I however think Gibson's are overpriced pieces of plywood...so...

I'd go with the Dean, if you're playing metal. If it's hard rock or any other form of "not-as-heavy" music, go with a Gibson. I've played both, and both make quality instruments, but they are suited for different types of music...

For me gibson is better (les paul)

I was wondering what style of metal your playing, the amp your using, the pedals your using/wanting and the pickups your looking to have in it?

From personal experince I find Gibsons are a much better feel then Deans, unless its a custom build. I suggest you should go to a huge guitar shop and play as many different ones with the equipment your using to find the sound you like and feel you like.

And if your wanting pictures to look really good I find black guitars blend in with the picture alot more if you don't have great lights and a good photographer.
