I was driving in my car the other day and I was listening to some Metal band as always and a guy looked over at me like I was a weirdo because I was listening to this agressive music...

Why is Metal so frowned upon? Then it came to me most people think Metal is bad cause either it has dark messages or evil sounds of the sort and they associate that with satinism...Yet...how many millions of people love and pay to go see Horror films, and yet thats accepted??? Isn't this a double standard and isn't a horror film much more violent since you actually seeing gore and violence and suffering rather than just listening to an idea or mood???

I mean people flock to horror films and its ok but I listen to a Metal band and I'm a freak? Why is that?

It is becuase people need to demonize something or they will actually have to take the blame for their own actions.

It probably also has something to do with the fact that when most people hear this aggressive music they only hear noise. I don't think people always hate metal because they perceive it as violent, but also becuase it is a reactionary genre as thus they hate people who don't conform to their way of seeing things. At the end of the day metal is frowned upon because of the ignorance of the larger community.

You must remember, religion and beliefs is also a massive addition. Most people believe its just "noise" or demonic. I find those people retarded.

Metal has never gotten the credit it truly desurves. Period. Although, I kinda like it that way. I wouldn't listen to metal if it was popular.

I just think its because its is abbrasive music, and people dont like abbrasive music. If you had been driveing down the street blasting nosie rock, or drill n' bass you probably would have gotten the same looks, its not that people look at us werid for liking metal, people look at you werid for just liking abbrasive sound.

I have noticed that there is a belief that all metal listeners are all satanists or hairy guys wearing leather and drinking beer. You have to ask yourself - how many of those people even know that metal exists, or how many of them know that metal is also divided into different genres? If they dont know, then for them it is just a noise coming from your stereo.
